Sock It to Insomnia
Would you like to fall asleep faster? Try warming your feet.
Researchers in Switzerland studied factors that affect sleep, including night-lights, dietary changes, and the use of the hormone melatonin. However, none of these ideas worked as well as nature's own method - warm feet and hands.
In preparation for sleep the body naturally
redistributes body heat to the hands and feet. Warming your feet may accelerate this
process.
The next time you want sudden sleep, slip on some warm socks or place a hot-water bottle
near your feet.
