Shin splints can be a chronically debilitating injury to anyone who's physically active. But, the use of shock-absorbing insoles may relieve the pain and eventually cure the condition. A German scientist studied 50 runners who had exertion injuries, including shin splints, and found that the use of insoles was associated with symptomatic improvement in over 90% of subjects.
