Guard Your Shins

Shin splints got you running on empty?   A shock-absorbing insole may do the trick to get you back your kick.

Shin splints can be a chronically debilitating injury to anyone who's physically active.  But, the use of shock-absorbing insoles may relieve the pain and eventually cure the condition.  A German scientist studied 50 runners who had exertion injuries, including shin splints, and found that the use of insoles was associated with symptomatic improvement in over 90% of subjects.

If you actively engage in physical activity on a regular basis, an injury or simply boredom with a routine can sabotage your enthusiasm.   Never fear, other exercises are near.  Substituting one exercise for another can rekindle your fitness fire.  If you run, try cycling.  If you jump rope, try skating.  The same is true with exercise as anything else; variety is the spice of life.
