Get Squashed
Need some help recovering from
that cold? Try winter squash.
Winter squash varieties, such as
acorn and butternut, offer a healthy dose of antioxidants, including beta carotene and
vitamin C. Both nutrients may help the body recover from viral infections. Just a
half-cup of winter squash contains 25% of the vitamin C and more than half the beta
carotene that your body needs daily.
Winter squash has good timing. That's because it peaks
during the winter cold and flu season when we need its illness-fighting nutrients most.
Winter squash varieties include acorn, butternut, and Hubbard squash.
